The general secretary of the Alliance for Progress party (APP), Luis Valdezdenounced failures in the system of the National Election Jury (JNE) for the registration of candidates for the Regional and Municipal Elections 2022.
Valdez Farías suggested that the electoral body is trying to weaken the organizations that intend to participate in these elections, because they have not solved the problems in their system.
“If we believe that political parties are the cornerstone of democracy, then we must worry about strengthening them, not weakening them. Everything seems that what the JNE, and certain actors, are trying to do is weaken the political parties”, he declared to the press from outside the Congress.

In this sense, the former congressman also assured that the complaints are not only from APP, but from many other parties and regional movements. Therefore, he clarified that he is not looking for a benefit or advantage.
“This expression of exhortation to the JNE does not only come from APP, it comes from Popular Action, Popular Renovation, Popular Force, Somos Peru, the Purple Party and regional movements. No one here is trying to make a profit or an advantage. We are showing underlying problems that limit citizen participation in such an important process“, held.
Likewise, Luis Valdez assured that it would not only be a technical problem, but also an attitude on the part of the president of the JNE, Jorge Luis Salas-Arenas. Faced with this, he urged him to resign.
“In addition to a technical problem, there is an attitude problem that we have seen in the JNE authorities, hence our public complaint. If the president of the JNE does not have the attitude, the ability to solve errors that we are showing throughout the process, he should resign and that the Judiciary replace him immediately”, said the general secretary of APP.
