"Wall Street did not build America"says Joe Biden

"Wall Street did not build America"says Joe Biden

“I don’t want to hear any more of these lies about reckless spending. We are changing people’s lives,” he said.

Concerns that a hawkish Federal Reserve will hurt U.S. growth as it tries to rein in inflation helped push the benchmark S&P 500 index into a “bear market” on Monday, a situation that could portend a recession.

Biden addressed some 2,000 union members, state and local leaders and officials at the AFL-CIO Constitutional Convention, held every four years, where union leaders outline their strategy. The labor federation comprises 57 affiliated unions and 12.5 million workers.

He recalled the lines to buy food and the loss of jobs under President Donald Trump, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and highlighted the current low level of unemployment.

“It speaks to a contrast. Normal people lining up for an hour to get a box of food,” while presidential policies created more billionaires than ever in US history, he said.

Biden has maintained support for unions and collective bargaining, and the White House is counting on them to help Democrats win the November election.
