As Diolimar Alemán, a 35-year-old Venezuelan woman was identified who was allegedly stabbed to death by her partner at her residence in Soria, where her eight-year-old daughter was also.
Spanish media report that the authorities are working on the hypothesis of a crime of gender violence.
The alleged murderer, named Nahum, 32 years old and also Venezuelan, fled after the events, but was quickly arrested by the National Police, indicates the report of the Diario de Castilla y León.
The events occurred around 2:00 a.m. in the Plaza del Rosario de Soria, very close to the city center and the well-known Santo Domingo church, and the notice was received on 112 at 2:21 a.m.
According to the delegate of the Government in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones, at the time of the events the victim, an uncle of his, the daughter and the alleged murderer were at the home.
“The woman asked for help and the uncle contacted another uncle of the woman, who went out to the street in search of immediate help,” the report states.
From the Association of Venezuelans of Soria, to which the victim belonged, they assure that the couple had constant fights and that their relationship was not very good.
In fact, in Diolimar’s Whatsapp status, hours before she was murdered, it could be read: “Sometimes it is better to lose everything and regain peace. No one has died from starting from scratch”, which the Association interprets as the victim’s intention to “end the relationship”.
The alleged murderer, Nahum, was not part of the Association of Venezuelans of Soria, from where his background is unknown, as explained by its president, Ana Verdasco, who shows her dismay at what happened.
The girl is in family custody.
“She had a lot of family in Soria and she was very sheltered”, several uncles and cousins, adds Verdasco, describing the victim as “very hard-working and very participatory in the Association, and also her girl”.
It transpires in the media that the eight-year-old girl was not related to the alleged murderer and that, according to official sources, she was in another room at the time of the murder and would not have witnessed the events.
“She is very well cared for by her relatives, because the social services have already contacted the relatives, and they already have psychological assistance,” reports the accidental sub-delegate, María Jesús Lafuente, who adds that the victim had a family environment in Soria and they are the ones who have taken charge of the little girl.
If it is officially confirmed that it is a case of gender violence, Diolimar Alemán would be the third fatality in the province, although another 150 women currently require protection measures, says the Castile and Leon Newspaper.
Two weeks ago, the Spanish security forces arrested 22 people in Murcia (southeast) accused of sexually exploiting 19 women from VenezuelaColombia, Brazil and Panama.
From May 27 they are in force new rates for consular procedures of the Embassy of Spain in Venezuela.
