A claim by the Union of Private Education Workers (Sintep) for a lack of economic resources for the maintenance of a Community Center for Early Childhood Education (CCEI) in Capurro generated a cross between the president of the Children’s Institute, Pablo Abdala and Adolescent from Uruguay (INAU) and the Ancap Federation (fancap).
For the INAU leader, the breach of obligations towards the CCEI is only attributable to Fancap, and not to the institute.
The CCEIs work within the scope of the INAU in a similar way to the CAIFs. The difference is that management belongs to other institutions, such as municipalities or civil organizations. In the case of this center, said the institute, the person in charge is the Suana Pintos Civil Society, which belongs to the union of the state company and whose center the officials of said company go to.
“This is not a situation attributable to INAU and we have been very concerned about marking it and saying it very clearly, for the simple reason that a story has been built that this would correspond to a decision of the board of directors or eventually INAU would be withdrawing from the attention of children in that area of the department of Montevideo, and it is exactly the other way around,” said Abdala in conversation with Underlined.
They will take legal action
Fancap quickly responded to Abdala’s statements and assured that they are not true and that the management is not their responsibility. According to a statement they published, the Susana Pintos civil society was created with Ancap officials, but they never assumed responsibilities.
Fancap assured that the only relationship they had with the CCEI was faith «solidarity character. As we do with multiple ooss (social organizations no)«.
“The President of the INAU, as a representative of the government with his statements, carries out an action of great political irresponsibility,” they add. In addition, they warn that they went to the legal area so that “corresponding legal actions can be initiated.”
