Charter flights between the US and Cuban provinces will be restored on June 16

Swift Air; Avión; Miami;

MIAMI, United States. — As of June 16, charter flights between the United States and several provinces of Cuba that have international airports will be restored, reported today the Cuban Company of Airports and Airport Services SA (ECASA).

Operations will restart this Thursday with a flight between Santa Clara and Miami. There will be weekly frequencies on Thursdays (one flight to Miami), Sundays (two flights to Miami and one to Tampa) and Wednesdays (two flights to Miami and two to Tampa).

On June 17, flights from Holguín to Miami will start, with a flight on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays to that city in the southern United States, and another on Tuesdays to Tampa.

Information from ECASA adds that operations will begin on June 20 from Santiago de Cuba, whose airport will have two weekly flights to Miami (Friday and Monday).

The Ignacio Agramonte International Airport, in Camagüey, will also see action, which as of June 23 will have a flight on Thursdays and Saturdays to Miami.

The company announced on social networks that operations are still subject to change and that air operations are expected to reach other airports on the Island.

On June 1st, the US government eliminated the flight restrictions to Cuba imposed during the presidency of Donald Trump, which restricted air operations only to the Havana airport.

The measure was included in Order 2022-6-1 of the US Department of Transportation (DOT), which annulled the actions carried out by the previous administration between 2019 and 2020.

In addition to allowing charter flights, the new Order will also extend permits for regular air operations to international airports in the interior of the Island.
