Amelia Calzadilla meets with Cerro authorities: “Nobody found a solution to my problem”

Amalia Calzadilla, Cuba

MIAMI, United States. — Amelia Calzadilla, the young Cuban who reported difficulties with the manufactured gas service last Thursday, revealed details of her meeting with government officials from the Cerro municipality, held this Monday.

In a transmission via Facebook LiveCalzadilla assured that the authorities, despite offering him numerous explanations about the reasons for the difficulties with the manufactured gas in his home, did not offer him a solution or an alternative that would alleviate his situation and that of his family.

The young woman explained that the competent entities cannot even guarantee her liquefied gas (gas that is sold in the so-called “balitas”) because they do not have the cylinders to deliver it.

“They say that they cannot plan for the next six months because, due to the situation they are going through, they have very few cylinders and the ones they have are only enough to replace those of people who have already contracted the service. That to me is not an answer.”

Calzadilla revealed that the municipal authorities, headed by the governor of Cerro, summoned her to a second meeting, with a date yet to be defined, to try to solve their problems with the gas supply.

“I went to all the authorities that were related to this problem and nobody found a solution. In fact, today, there is no solution. I am waiting for them to summon me again, ”she added.

Amelia Calzadilla stressed that upon her arrival at the Cerro Government headquarters, she observed the presence of the state press and made it clear that she refused to answer questions about the situation she had faced in recent days. Only she and her parents could enter the meeting, which lasted more than two hours.

The young woman also asked the authorities for explanations about the siege of a state media such as Cubadebatewhich published an article accusing her, “without evidence”, of being an instrument financed by counterrevolutionary groups for destabilizing purposes.
