A formidable campaign to discredit the government makes it seem guilty of the inflationary phenomenon, whose most noticeable effect is the increase in food products and gasoline, although its origin is beyond its control. However, reality is foolish and it should be remembered that phenomena such as inflation and economic crises, apparent or real, have historically been the grave of other governments.
The strange combination of processes such as inflation with other events, such as the impossibility of passing laws that would benefit the majority of the population, have placed the Democratic government on the brink of a precipice that it will inevitably fall to next November when the elections are held if he does not quickly find a way to isolate each of these problems, in addition to explaining their origin and offering a satisfactory answer, at least to some of them. It is undeniable that some sectors of the population are going through a difficult time, and it is not enough to say that the government is not responsible for each and every one of their problems. But then you have to ask why you haven’t been able to explain them and find a convincing way to overcome them. For example, their legislators have been unable or unwilling to make public that they do not have the majority in the Senate that they supposedly won in the last election, because one of their fellow party members is actually a Republican in ambush who has systematically boycotted the The president’s main proposals, or emphasizing that the level of unemployment is the lowest in recent years and that wages have increased after four decades of stagnation; that the labor movement is resurgent, that there is a recovery in production which should crystallize very soon for the benefit of the whole society. If all this is true, then how to understand, according to a specialist’s comment, that the economy is responsible for the government’s debacle. The truth is that in one way or another, expectations have once again diminished.
