A man and a woman demonstrated this Monday in Plaza Independencia, in front of the Executive Tower, where they asked to be received by President Luis Lacalle Pou. Not being received as they wished, the man lit a fire on the floor of the place and threatened to immolate himselfreported universal radius and confirmed The Observer.
Police officers from the Executive Tower and security personnel arrested the man and controlled the situation. They extinguished the flames that were spreading from the fuel that had been dumped earlier. No people were injured.
A knife and a lighter were seized from the man.. She had expressed her intention to meet with the president for personal reasons. It happened in the noon hours.
In September 2021, a similar event occurred: a man set a fire in the same place and blew himself up. He later died from the entity’s burns.
