Eight people have lost their lives in the last 24 hours, due to Covid-19, according to the report of the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) for a cumulative of 8,307 deaths from the virus.
The report adds that 892,455 accumulated cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Panama to date, of which 1,106 are new positive cases today.
The fatality rate is 0.9% to be one of the lowest in the region.
Those recovered from the disease amount to 862,527 of which 3,092 are newly recovered. 5,963 new tests were applied for a positivity of 18.5%.
Although the positivity rate registers a slight decrease, the health authorities reiterate the call for the population to be vaccinated, particularly with booster doses that increase immunity against the virus, especially in older adults, people with immunosuppression and with diseases. Chronicles.

The total number of active cases in the country is 21,621. Of them, 21,331 are in home isolation and 290 hospitalized. Those in isolation are divided into 21,299 at home and 32 in hotels. Those hospitalized are 255 in the Ward and 35 in the ICU.
The districts with the highest number of cases reported today are: San Francisco (Panama) 50 cases, José Domingo Espinar 43 cases, Bella Vista (Panama) 34, Juan Díaz with 33 and Bethania 33 cases.
