The Bolivian Chamber of Tourism (Cabotur) denied this Wednesday the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) by pointing out that the concession of the Avianca airline was renewed due to “public pressure.”
“Cabotur at no time was untrue regarding the events that occurred regarding the late issuance of the Administrative Resolution for the Renewal of Operations of the Avianca Company, which was being managed for the second time after the concession granted in the 2012 management (… ). Yesterday, November 30 of the current year, trying to distort the efforts that we had been carrying out, which were nevertheless fruitful due to the public pressure exerted, ”Cabotur said in a statement.
He added that the process of renewal of the concession was initiated by the airline on September 1 of this year and that the DGAC took more than 20 days to give a response with a list of “unusual requirements” to achieve the extension of the license of Avianca operation

“This process began on September 1 and the DGAC took more than 20 days to respond with a list of unusual requirements, when it comes to a Renewal of Operations of a Company that is exploiting these services for a decade,” he said.
The institution maintained that the airline complied with the DGAC’s requirements, but that the latter only issued the resolution “under pressure.”
“Despite this, the company complied with all the requirements made, which did not happen with the Aeronautical Authority, which issued its renewal resolution on the last day under pressure.”
The Colombian airline managed yesterday to renew its operating permit a few hours before the deadline, when its operations in Bolivia and its insurance coverage were at risk.
