The used car sales operations marked an increase of 42.5% in May compared to the same period 2021, with a total of 138,552 registered vehicles, while the accumulated figure for the first five months of the year reflected a slight increase of 1.3 %, according to a report by the Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA).

“The rise in used car sales in May cannot be taken as growth because we have been declining volumes year after year. It’s just an index that we expect to see continuous and considerable growth again,” he said. Alberto Príncipe, president of the chamber when analyzing the behavior of the sector.

Principe, in a press release, maintained that the concessionaires appeal to “all their experience and imagination to reinvent themselves to new forms of sale and not go to the extreme of shrinking their structures again, endangering jobs.”

“We know of the will of the government so that this does not happen, but we do not envision an important change in the short term to the extent that the country’s macroeconomic situation does not improve,” added the manager.

The CEC report He also specified that compared to last April, May sales reflected a rise of 6.28%.

Lastly, they specified that the used car sales ranking was headed by the VW Gol and Trend models, with 8,262 units sold; followed by Chevrolet Corsa and Classic, with 4,927 vehicles: and Toyota Hilux, with 4,128.
