In the 54 years that the Dermatological Residence has been founded, of which the Dominican Dermatological Institute and Skin Surgery “Dr. Huberto Bogaert Diaz” (IDCP) is responsible, they have been trained to 356 specialists locally and internationally.
The president of the Board for the Fight Against Leprosy, the dermatologist-surgeon Emma Guzmán, congratulated all the specialists that are dedicated to guiding, monitoring and caring for the health of the largest organ of the human body, which is the skin.
“It is a good day to continue giving thanks to God, first for having put in the doctor Huberto Bogaert Diaz the vision of creating the dermatological residency, a space in which not only specialists, but the new generational relay. Second, the medical body of teachers, on whom rests the responsibility of training specialists with high quality standards, but without losing sight of the humanization of the services they offer”, said Dr. Guzmán.
While the dermatologist Victor Pou Soaresgeneral director of the IDCP, highlighted that all the professionals trained by the high academic body of that institution are characterized by their humanization and the quality of the service, aspects that are valued and highlighted by the patients who demand these specialized services.
“Every year the Institute Dermatological Dominican and Skin Surgery “Dr. Huberto Bogaert Diaz forms an average of 10-13 dermatologists”, Pou specified.
The doctor added that “they are currently in the process of training 37 future dermatologists. Of these, thirteen are second-year residents, the same number are third-year residents, and eleven are fourth-year residents, which indicates that this last group will conclude on June 30, so we will be delivering new specialists with high standards of educational quality.
Both doctors commented that since 1967 through programs of learning that ranges from theory, research and practiceIn addition to training Dominican doctors, the residency has trained doctors of other nationalities who today are pillars of dermatology in their respective countries.
