Santo Domingo – The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry arrested a man at the Punta Cana International Airport who was wanted for his connection to the seizure of 153 packets of cocaine, seized on the coast of Bayahibe , Altagracia province.
Miguel Alexander Abad Peña, was captured when he tried to leave the country for the neighboring island of Puerto Rico, following an arrest warrant issued by a judge of the jurisdiction of Permanent Attention of the Altagracia province.
The detainee, who tried to escape from the country, is already under the control of the Public Ministry to learn about coercive measures in the next few hours, while other members of this criminal structure are being searched for.
“The arrest of the new person involved in this network is part of the authorities’ follow-up of each of the cases of violation of Law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances”
It is recalled that the DNCD and the Navy seized a shipment of cocaine last March 2021 that would be sent to Puerto Rico and for which case there are 23 people with coercive measures.
On that occasion, 14 men and two women were arrested and three boats, six vehicles, two motorcycles, five firearms (two pistols and three shotguns), ammunition of various calibers, twelve cell phones, 358,500 Dominican pesos, 17 US dollars and other evidence.
