Carlos Varela will return to the Spanish stages

The singer-songwriter Carlos Varela will offer a concert on September 16 at the “Galileo Galilei” hall in Madrid. The author of “Monedas al aire” appeared in 2019 in this space to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his album Like the fishes, one of the cardinal phonograms in his repertoire.

Considered one of the most relevant Cuban singer-songwriters, Varela recently appeared at the Havana World Music festival in the Cuban capital, where he reviewed the most anthological songs of his career, made up of classics such as «Family photo, «Little dreams», « Like an angel» and «Politics does not fit in the sugar bowl».
The musician has maintained a reference work within Cuban song, with which he has acutely and poetically addressed the various conflicts in the country.

Carlos Varela celebrates in Spain the 25 years of «Like the fish»

His ninth album, the mute cry, It contains themes elaborated from a universal point of view, such as “El yawn de la esperanza”, which do not fail to keep the human being and the problems that surround him at the center of his poetic conception.

“All the songs on the album deal with universal themes, but ‘El yawn de laespera’ is the one that moves closer to the problems, life and history of Cubans,” the troubadour told OnCuba.
