IM will provide advice to rural enterprises that produce food

technical teams of the Food Regulation Service of the Municipality of Montevideo began this Friday 10, tours of the rural area of ​​Montevideo to provide technical advice to rural producers dedicated to food production, with the aim of improving their processes.

On Friday they visited two undertakings and today another tour of horticultural producer establishments and nearby markets is planned. In a first stage of work, the main critical points in the post-harvest processes will be surveyed, in the productive farms with packing, in the value-added plants for fresh products and in the nearby markets of the rural area of ​​the department.

During these visits, efforts are made to detect opportunities for improvement in the post-harvest processes of fresh horticultural foods.

Emphasis will be placed on those establishments that have added value. Both for the packaging of products in trays, netting and packaging in packages ready for retail sale.

Work will also be done with companies that manufacture ready-to-eat products, such as the fourth range. Like washed and sanitized salads, grated and cut vegetables, among others.

Subsequently, the technical team will provide advice to these enterprises on the existing opportunities to prioritize the products they sell.
