Works on the roundabout of routes 2 and 24 of Río Negro will be enabled in two weeks, Falero announced

The Minister of Transport and Public Works, José Luis Falero, signed, this Friday the 10th, agreements with three social and sports clubs of Fray Bentos and Young, in Río Negro, for an amount of 8 million pesos. In addition, during his visit to that department, he announced that in the next few days the works on routes 2 and 24 in La Víbora area will be completed. “It is a solution that has been demanded for a long time,” he indicated.

After completing the tour of some areas of the department of Río Negro, Falero, accompanied by the mayor, Omar Lafluf; the national director of Architecture, Santiago Borsari, and the national director of Roads, Hernán Ciganda, spoke at a press conference at the headquarters of the mayor.

The minister visited the works of the roundabout that joins routes 2 and 24, which, as he explained, will improve security at that intersection. The works, which will culminate in the next two weeks, will represent “a solution that has been demanded for a long time,” he pointed out.

He also announced that he will sign a contract for improvements in about 25 kilometers of Route 25, between Routes 3 and 24, in Río Negro, for an investment of 22 million dollars. The works, which will begin in September, will be carried out in 22-centimeter-thick concrete, for a longer duration. “We hope to be able to continue doing this type of reconstruction on the road network to have a guarantee of durability,” he said.

In addition, he referred to the works being carried out on Route 20, which will join Routes 5 and 24, in 160 kilometers. As he explained, it is a transverse route that will be built entirely with the best quality pavement, which will mean the possibility of traveling safely at higher speeds.

Faleró expressed that the current administration treats Uruguay in its entirety and ranks the interior to offer its population the same opportunities as those who live in Montevideo. In addition, he argued that the new infrastructure allows reducing distances and times for the transportation of production. “It is good that we are beginning to think that the interior can be united with each other, without having to go down to Montevideo”, he pointed out.

The works on routes 20 and 25 total an investment of some 50 million dollars.

Three social institutions will receive funds to improve their facilities

During his visit to Río Negro, the minister visited the headquarters of the Anastasia Social and Sports Club, the Fray Bentos Fútbol Club, both in the departmental capital, and the San Lorenzo Athletic Club, in Young. There he signed agreements with the institutions, for the execution of repair works and expansion of its facilities.

Through the Social Agreements program, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works provides financial support and technical advice to organizations throughout the country to improve their infrastructure.

The agreements signed this Friday the 10th total 8 million pesos.
