The Ministry of Tourism and the Government of Rivera presented, this Thursday, the First Binational Festival of Wine and Cheese, which will take place on June 18 at the Siñeriz Shopping, in the capital of the department. This sample will promote wine tourism in the area, will allow regional producers to meet and will enhance the binational status of the town, highlighted the Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera.
Also attending the launch, in the main space of the Montevideo Agricultural Market (MAM), were the mayor of Rivera, Richard Sander; the director of the MAM, Arturo Echevarría, and, on behalf of the festival organization, Gabriela Barroso.
In his speech, Viera maintained that the binational status of Rivera-Santana do Livramento is a tourist attraction in itself. He was encouraged by the cultural syncretism characteristic of that border area, and he added that the event was declared of interest by the ministry dedicated to the subject.
The hierarch pointed out that the Binational Festival will allow to meet local and regional producers of wines, olive oils and cheeses. There will be more than 250 labels of the aforementioned drink to experience in a single night, he indicated.
He also stressed that it will be an excellent opportunity to visit Rivera’s department. Also get to know its attractions, such as the Lunarejo Valley, Minas de Corrales, the Gold Route or the Wine Route. Carry out adventure tourism and enjoy nature, among others.
“Decentralizing and deseasonalizing the country’s tourist offer makes domestic tourism stronger and the work of Uruguayans is much better known,” he concluded.
