So we must not leave any country, or any people,” said the Secretary of Health about the joint initiative to “train 500,000 public health workers in the region over the next five years.”
The development of the plan, he added, will depend on the needs of each town that are considered by local leaders. “What happens in communities in the United States is not the same as in those in Central America, South America or the Caribbean, it doesn’t matter, what we want is to know what local leaders need, it will be an initiative of all the Americas.”
“One lesson from the pandemic is that we in the United States are not healthy and safe until everyone outside of the United States is not healthy and safe. We are a very integrated community and one can come from Argentina or go from here to there and we need everyone to be safe. We have to work together,” Becerra said.
