Congonhas airport will be auctioned in August

One of the main Brazilian airports will be granted to the private sector through an auction to be held on the day august 18. Located in São Paulo, Congonhas Airport will be auctioned along with other terminals such as Uberlândia (MG), Uberaba (MG) and Montes Claros (MG) in a system known as auction by blocks. “Where we put a large airport where it is profitable, in surplus together with other airports that do not have the ‘advantage’, perhaps, of profit, but they are important airports when we talk about internalizing our infrastructure, democratizing access to our aviation”, said the Minister of Infrastructure, Marcelo Sampaio, interviewed on the program The Voice of Brazil of this fridaythursday (10).Congonhas airport will be auctioned in August

Another block will be led by Belém airport, along with other airports in the Pará region. According to the minister, there will be a more general block with the airports of Campo de Marte (SP) and Jacarepaguá (RJ). The amount of expected investments is R$ 7.3 billion. “These investments will bring regional development and job creation,” he said.

According to the minister, the airports of Santos Dumont (RJ) and Galeão (RJ) will be awarded in an eighth round, to be held in 2023.

The minister said that, in about 3 years and 6 months, 84 assets were auctioned through the Concessions Program, bringing a sum of more than R$ 100 billion contracted. “This will generate a boom in infrastructure.” “This will transform our country”, he celebrates.

Fusion

During the interview, the minister also spoke about the merger of two public companies: the Planning and Logistics Company (EPL) and Valec – Engenharia, Construções e Ferrovias. According to Sampaio, one of the major objectives of this merger is the search for the reduction of the State apparatus and the search for efficiency. The expectation is for savings of almost R$ 100 million annually.

railroads

According to the Minister of Infrastructure, Brazil is going through a new moment in the railway sector, with the private sector taking the lead in investments and the construction of new railways. “We changed the regulatory framework where we now allow, via authorization, the private sector to make large investments”, referring to the Pró-Trilhos program (link: https://www.gov.br/infraestrutura/pt-br/assuntos/transporte-terrestre_antigo/programa-de-autorizacoes-ferroviarias). According to him, there have already been more than 80 authorization requests for new railroads in the last six months alone, which would mean more than 20,000 kilometers of railroads and an investment of around R$140 billion. “This will really transform our transportation matrix. In addition to generating jobs, we are going to develop regions, he said.

According to Sampaio, the advance in the railways agenda has been advancing with the creation of road-rail terminals, doing the work of thousands of trucks and giving more competitiveness to the commodities Brazilians. “Last year, for the first time, we had grains from the Brazilian Midwest more competitive than the grains from the American Midwest arriving in Asia. This is the result of the reduction in freight and internal logistics in the country.”, he celebrated.
