The Bank of the Republic reported that during the first quarter of 2022 the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Colombia sumo 5,186 million dollars, equivalent to 6.2% of quarterly GDP.

These resources were higher by 2,833 million dollars compared to the first quarter of 2021 and marked a growth of 120.3%.
The figure is also higher by 3,020 million dollars compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year.
FDI flows were directed mainly to financing productive projects in the economic activities of financial and business services, mining and oil and transportation and communications, and electricity, gas and water.

By country of origin, FDI resources came mainly from United States, Panama, Spain and Chile.
For its part, the Direct Investment of Colombia Abroadr (IDCE) in the first quarter it registered flows of 1,342 million dollars, a figure 473 million dollars higher than that registered a year before, that is, it grew by 54.4% and increased by 203 million dollars compared to what was observed in the preceding quarter .
IDCE flows were mainly used for the economic activities of mining and quarrying, financial and business services, and transportation and communications.

By country of destination, the main recipient countries were Mexico, Panama and the Netherlands.
