MIAMI, United States. – Rosa María Payá, the coordinator of the citizen platform Cuba Decide, shared on twitter the screenshot of an article published in Granma and assured that it was the first time that one had to read the official organ of the Communist Party of Cuba to find out about “the great victory” achieved by the civil society of the Island in the People’s Summit.
“The dictatorship unmasked, convicted as a criminal and the call to act for the freedom of Cuba. #SummitWithoutDictatorships”, he wrote before qualifying the note of Granmaironically, as “the best press coverage of the Summit of the Americas”.
In the article in question, titled “Why did the Democratic Governance spokesperson resign from the IX Summit of the Americas?”, Granma quoted excerpts from the final document approved by the Democratic Governance group, which reads:
“The members of civil society participating in the IX Summit of the Americas condemn the dictatorships of Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela (…). Condemn the destabilizing actions of the Sao Paulo Forum and the Puebla Group in the Hemisphere, as well as the interference of the Cuban dictatorship in any other State.”
In an article published this very Friday in CubaNetthe journalist Vicente Morín Aguado I consider that the Cuban opposition had just obtained “a resounding victory against the maneuvers generated from the Plaza de la Revolución, capturing in an official document of the summit in Los Angeles, California, the dictatorial character of the communist regimes of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua ”.

However, Payá led the effective response to the action of Mrs. Panezo Asprilla.
“We come from a country where for speaking out they can send you to prison and even kill you, as happened to my father, so you must understand that we have concerns when we see that dictatorship, the one that murders, the one that has 1,200 people prisoners, placing you as a friend,” said the coordinator of Cuba Decide.
