Exiled children in Costa Rica exhibit works of art on the occasion of World Refugee Day

Between June 8 and 30, exiled adolescent boys and girls in Costa Rica will exhibit works of art on the occasion of World Refugee Day, which is commemorated on the 20th of this month.

According to the post on the Facebook page Nicaraguan Exile Unitthe activity will take place at Casa Alfredo González Flores, in the city of Heredia.

The schedules to see the exhibitions will be from Tuesday to Friday, from eight in the morning to 12 noon and from one to six in the afternoon. On Saturdays the activity starts from nine to six in the afternoon.

“Children and adolescents express their stories, their cultural richness and dreams through art,” highlights the publication of the Exiles Unit, which highlights that the presentation is sponsored by the Network of Young Refugees, UNHCR, Defense of Girls and Boys International Costa Rica, Embassy of Spain in Costa Rica, among others.

To date, there are thousands of Nicaraguans who are in the neighboring country to the south as refugees, after having left Nicaragua between 2018 and 2021 due to the political crisis and persecution they suffered from the Daniel Ortega regime.

On May 30, dozens of exiled Nicaraguans marched in San José to continue demanding justice for those murdered during the social protests in 2018. Many families say they have had to go into exile with their children to protect their lives and start a new life. According to organizations, about 120 thousand Nicaraguans are refugees in the neighboring country.
