The country’s retail sales volume grew 0.9% from March to April this year. According to data from the Monthly Trade Survey (PMC), released today (10) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), this is the fourth consecutive rise of the indicator.
There were also growths in the quarterly moving average (1.2%), in comparison with April 2021 (4.5%), in the accumulated of the year (2.3%) and in the accumulated of 12 months (0.8%). .
Four of the eight activities surveyed were discharged on passage of seaApril: furniture and household appliances (2.3%), fabrics, clothing and footwear (1.7%), pharmaceutical, medical, orthopedic and perfumery articles (0.4%) and other articles of personal and Sunaesthetic (0.1%).
On the other hand, four activities had a decrease in the volume of sales: fuels and lubricants (-0.1%), hypermarkets, supermarkets, food products, beverages and tobacco (-1.1%), books, newspapers, magazines and stationery ( -5.6%) and computer and communication office equipment and supplies (-6.7%).
Nominal retail revenue grew 1.3% compared to March, 22.3% compared to April 2021, 16.8% in the year and 14.5% in the 12-month period.
Extended retail, which also measures the activities of vehicles and construction materials, grew 0.7% from March to April. Vehicles, motorcycles, parts and pieces fell 0.2% and construction material fell 2%.
Expanded retail trade also grew 1.1% in the quarterly moving average, 1.5% in comparison with April last year, 1.4% in the year and 2.2% in the 12-month period.
The expanded retail nominal revenue increased in comparison with March (1.3%), in relation to April 2021 (18.7%), in the accumulated of the year (16.5%) and in the accumulated of 12 months (16 .8%).
