The Commission of Economy of the Congress approved by majority that the micro and small companies (mypes) of restaurantshotels, tourist accommodation, catering services and food concessionaires pay only 8%, and no longer 18%, for the General Sales Tax (IGV).
This measure would apply until December 31, 2024 at the proposal of the legislator Rosangella Barbarán, who indicated that it will take around two more years for the sector hardest hit by the health crisis to recover.
“Until delivery was allowed, (restaurants) could not have any type of income. They lost everything”, commented the legislator.
In this regard, the president of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Related (Now Peru), Blanca Chávez, commented to this newspaper that now they hope that the opinion will be approved in the plenary session of Congress and that the Executive will subsequently promulgate it..
“We still cannot claim victory because we have to wait for it to be published in the legal regulations. I hope that the Executive supports us”, he indicated.
In addition, he indicated that he hopes that restaurant chains will be included as beneficiaries in the plenary session, since he indicated that they were also affected and generate employment. “We also have to work to reduce the informality that exists in the sector,” he added.
