Alfredo Yalan Ramirezlawyer of the former Minister of Transport and Communications Juan Silvaaffirmed that his client could take refuge in an embassy, while the second option would be that he be brought before the authorities, after the preliminary arrest warrant issued against him.
In statements to RPP Television, he reiterated that the former official is in Peru and has not fled to another country. In this sense, he indicated that Silva Villegas “it is in a safe place”.
“When I said that it is in a safe place, it is because it is in Peru, in a country where we are apparently guided by a constitutional, democratic and social state, oriented to the common good where laws and not men rule. He is here in Peru, he has not escaped ”he expressed.
“You could seek asylum (in an embassy), it is a possibility, the other possibility is that you could get legal”he added, specifying that Silva Villegas is evaluating the legal steps to follow and possibly this Thursday the 9th could make a decision in this regard.
Regarding the possibility that the former minister becomes an effective collaborator, the lawyer indicated that in reality it will be “collaborator of the truth” and will go to international organizations to denounce an alleged political interference in the Public Ministry and the Judiciary.
“What Mr. Juan Silva is going to be is a collaborator of the truth and we are going to go to international organizations so that they see that here politics has entered the Public Ministry and the supreme judge of the Judicial Power”he underlined.
Yalán Ramírez asked that constitutional guarantees be provided so that John Silva can be handed over to the authorities. He also assured that so far he has not been notified of the preliminary arrest warrant, which is why he cannot appeal the measure.
“I say it publicly, it has not reached my mail, nor my procedural address, nor the real address of my client. The only thing that has come from the prosecution is a strange rescheduling of the testimonial statement of Messrs. Víctor Valdivia Malpartida and Edgar Vargas Mas, who had to testify tomorrow.”he stated.
Finally, the lawyer said that his client has denied that it is his voice that of the alleged audios with the businessman Zamir Villaverdewhere they talk about “100 grand”and even assured that they were “predisposed” to attend on Friday June 10 for voice recognition.
