Deadline to register alliances or concertations is non-extendable

Carlos María Ljubetic warned that the registration deadlines for agreements and alliances by political parties and movements for the next elections cannot be extended.

The established date is until the 27th of this month and Ljubetic, who is director of Electoral Processes of the TSJE, told 1020 AM that the registrations will no longer be accepted the following day.

“The deadlines cannot be extended, otherwise the entire calendar will have to be modified. On the 27th the deadline for alliances and agreements expires, it is on the same date. They are practically the same requirements”, he referred.

All political parties and movements must first agree on the name of the concertation, a common government plan and how the candidates will be replaced after being elected in case of resignation, disability or death. They must also agree on how the electoral subsidies will be distributed.

The recognized political parties and movements that agree agreements for the elections of April 30, 2023, will request the respective recognition from the competent Electoral Tribunal, until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, in accordance with article 4 of Law No. 3,212 /07, says the TSJE report.
