Workers of the Administration of Airports and Auxiliary Services to Air Navigation (Aasana) have been on a hunger strike for two days and the intermission period for negotiating their demands with the Government ends today.

At the El Alto International Airport, eight workers remain on the picket line for the radical measure determined.

In Cochabamba the picture is similar: Aasana workers set up tents, signs and protest posters at Jorge Wilstermann International Airport.

“We are waiting for our requests to be resolved, we have five months’ wages owed, refreshment vouchers and a lower work condition,” one of the leaders told Unitel.

In Santa Cruz, the workers pointed out that the protest “has no solution at the moment” and that the 10 points of the petition are still being analyzed, in contrast to the proposal of the Minister of Public Works, Édgar Montaño.

“At the moment there is no solution, they tell us that they were in a meeting in which the ten points were analyzed and the fourth intermission ends today, and the proposal of the Ministry of Public Works should be analyzed by all” declared the leader Jorge Cabrera.

Among the points of the request for airport workers is the dismissal of the current director of Aasana, Arminda Choque, and the payment of wages owed.

The sector threatens an indefinite strike from tomorrow, in case the Government does not meet its demands.
