Children under 5 years of age could receive the vaccine against Covid-19

The reinforcement of the vaccine against Covid-19 for children over 12 years of age has already been approved by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), according to Minister Luis Francisco Sucre, who announced that they are already evaluating the application of the vaccine to children. under 5 years old.

Sucre said that they are still investigating to determine the viability of this alternative.

“We have met with the vaccine experts, it is being analyzed, we are waiting for more information and monitoring how the behavior is in other populations that are already using it,” he said, assuring that the ideal would be to be able to vaccinate all children.

Panama currently applies pediatric vaccines to children between 5 and 11 years of age. From the age of 12, the adult vaccine is applied.
