The senator of the Broad Front, Amanda Della Ventura, criticized the government’s actions in the area of gender while speaking of femicides during her use of the floor when the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, was questioned.
In the middle of her speech, the president of the Senate and vice president of the Republic, Beatriz Argimón, interrupted her, understanding that she was “off topic” because she was talking about femicides and not homicides.
“I want to make a clarification. Are you going to refer to the femicides? which would be the part…because so far it’s off topic. So I would like, as I said to all the colleagues who have preceded, that we try, as much as possible, to be within the framework of the issue like all the senators listed. Do you want me to repeat why we are here? We are going to clarify, not only for you, but perhaps at this time we have forgotten ”, snapped Argimón while he read from some leaves the reason for the question to Heber. “No, we already know,” Della Ventura replied.
“Do you mean, Madam President, that…”, the Frente Amplio legislator began asking, but Argimón did not let her finish: “Be careful what you are going to tell me!”, he launched as a warning. “Well, the question is for everyone, actually, if killing women is not homicide.”
It was when Argimón raised his voice and, shouting, said: “You are a daredevil, excuse me for saying so! What I just finished is… I just asked you if you want me to talk about femicides! Do not disrespect me and respect my trajectory! Stick with what you have to say and stay on topic.”

The senator of the National Party, Graciela Bianchi, wanted to contribute to the discussion on femicides by assuring that, for her, “all deaths are the same.”
