110 Conferencia Internacional del Trabajo

MIAMI, United States. – While an official delegation from the Cuban regime participates in the 110th International Labor Conference (CIT 2022), the International Group for Corporate Social Responsibility in Cuba (GIRSCC) denounced the human rights violations on the island on Twitter.

“Speak no more of embargo. You have imposed the blockade on the Cuban people,” wrote the GIRSCC in response to a tweet from the Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feito Cabrera.

Likewise, the civil society organization demanded “free and democratic elections” for Cubans and the release of “the more than 1,200 political prisoners” who remain in prisons on the Island.

In another tweetthe GIRSCC described the official delegation of the Cuban regime as “representatives of a dictatorship” and called for freedom of association, freedom of expression and the right to strike.

“The Cuban regime must respect the recommendations of the Committee on Freedom of Association (CLS) to allow free association, the right to strike and the free exercise of independent trade unionism,” pointed the GIRSCC.

In this sense, he demanded to comply with the recommendations of the CLS related to the Case No. 3271which deals with attacks, harassment, persecution, arrests, assaults and dismissals of independent Cuban trade unionists, among other acts of discrimination and anti-union interference by public authorities of the regime.
