Richard Morales: ‘There is political uncertainty in the country, which is expressing the economic crisis that is being experienced’

The political analyst, Richard Morales, elucidated this Tuesday about the political parties, the credibility of the Electoral Tribunal (TE) and the official start of the electoral period for the 2024 general elections.

In Morales’ opinion, “there is growing political uncertainty in the country, which is expressing the economic crisis we are experiencing.” At the same time, he said that what the population is looking for is an answer.

He specified that this uncertainty comes mainly from changes in methods, for example, in the case of collecting signatures for free applicants who will now be digital, which have not had a happy ending.

“At the electoral level we can say that there are a large number of proposals, many new, many old, but they are trying to take advantage of the independent method to enter into a political dispute that remains undefined,” he remarked.

Regarding the credibility of the Electoral Tribunal, Morales assured that it has been deteriorating over the years. “In the past there was a kind of mythical faith in the Court, beyond the predominance of clientelism in the country, the use of money to buy elections, buy votes,” he commented.

He considered that the underlying problem, which has persisted over the years, is the apparent tolerance with the use of money to influence electoral results.
