Santo Domingo.- Orlando Jorge Villegas, son of the late Minister of EnvironmentOrlando Jorge Mera, highlighted this Tuesday that his father was in the best moment of his life, since he was serving the country.
“He was, Mr. President, in the best moment of his life, because he was serving from a place that welcomed him as if he had been born there. He was dedicated body and soul to his public function, ”said Jorge Villegas when referring to his father, at the body mass present held in the San Rafael Arcángel chapel of the National Palace.
The also deputy for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) thanked the shows of solidarity and affection received before the untimely departure of the politician, who highlighted his “simplicity, optimism, resilience and inexhaustible ability to seek consensus” in times of difficulty.
He recalled when: “About 11 or 12 years ago I returned from studying in Brazil and I told him, what are you doing in politics (going through difficult times) and he tells me, I have learned to serve the country and even in difficult times difficult, I will be there”.
In the presence of his mother, Patricia Villegas, his sister, Patricia Jorge, as well as President Luis Abinader, First Lady Raquel Arbaje and Vice President Raquel Peña, the young politician indicated that his father’s legacy must continue not only in his family, but also, in all his friends, who have known him for many years and fought alongside him when circumstances warranted it.

“That this legacy of peace, conciliation, delivery, no matter the circumstances, be present in our government, that he was part of its construction, that is what he would like,” he concluded.
