According to the president of Anfavea, Márcio de Lima Leite, the automakers still face difficulties to maintain the production lines with the lack of components all over the world. “The semiconductor problem still persists. Slowly the situation has not normalized but become less critical. But still a big challenge for factories to deliver and maintain the level of production,” he said during the data presentation.

New vehicle sales had a slight drop of 0.9% in May compared to the same month last year. In May, 187,100 units were licensed. In the first five months of the year, vehicle sales recorded a 17% retraction compared to the same period in 2021, with the sale of 740 thousand units.

Sales of automobiles and light commercial vehicles fell by 2.4% in May compared to the same month in 2021, with the sale of 152,800 units. , 21.1% less than in the first five months of last year.

The commercialization of trucks registered a retraction of 9.6% in May compared to the same month of 2021, with the sale of 10,400 units. From January to May, sales fell by 1.5% compared to the same period last year, with the sale of 46,600 trucks.

Vehicle exports rose 24.6% in May compared to the same month last year, with 46,100 units sold abroad. In the first five months of the year, the increase in exports was 19.4%, with the sale of 198,900 to other countries.

“2022 has been a very interesting year for exports. The challenge is for this to be something sustainable”, commented Leite

Job

The number of people employed in the vehicle industry fell by 2.2% in May compared to the same month in 2021. Currently, automakers have 101,800 workers.
