The president, Guillermo Lasso, issued the measures that Ecuador took before the discovery of the Ómicron variant of Covid-19.
On the night of this November 29, 2021, the president, Guillermo Lasso, announced five measures to confront the Omicron variant of Covid-19. Lasso said that this variant is a call to Ecuadorians “to make an additional effort against the pandemic.”
The measurements are:
- Prohibition of entry to Ecuador to those who have a point of origin, stopover or transit a list of countries in Africa that will be socialized by the Ministry of Health.
- Opening of the border with Colombia will be in phases. First they will be transported with merchandise.
- All national and foreign travelers arriving in Ecuador need to present their complete vaccination schedule, plus a PCR test with at least 72 hours validity.
- For children and adolescents between 2 and 16 years old, they must present a negative PCR test done up to 72 hours before embarking to Ecuador.
- If there is a suspicious case among the travelers, a PCR test will be carried out. In case of being positive there will be isolation of 14 days.
Vaccination
Lasso called on the public to complete their vaccination schedules. And those who have served six months since the second dose “put on the booster tomorrow”, said the President.
People who have vaccinated abroad and have completed between six and eight months can also access the reinforcement. For that it is necessary to approach the vaccination centers carrying your foreign card. He also asked parents to vaccinate children older than five years. (AVV)
