Exiles reject the sale of radio stations that defend the freedom of Cuba

MIAMI, United States. — Cuban leaders in exile will speak out this Wednesday on the recent sale of radio stations defending Cuban freedom, a fact that has generated concern in the Cuban community in South Florida.

The conference, which will be held at the Bay of Pigs Museum, also the headquarters of the Assault Brigade 2506, will address the cases of Radio Mambí (AM 710) and WQBA 1140 (formerly Cubanísima), bought by the Latino Media Network business group (L M N).

“Cuban leaders in exile, on behalf of the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance, will express the great concern of their community with the possible corporate sale of important radio stations for the defense of the freedom of Cuba and the fundamental rights of the Cuban people, to ensure these voices are not silenced,” the organization said in a statement.

The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance is a coalition of opposition organizations to the island’s regime. It was founded on March 18, 2009 and is made up of human rights, pro-democracy and pro-freedom groups inside and outside of Cuba.

Of the 18 radio stations acquired, 10 are part of the Latin market in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Houston and Las Vegas.
