Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou has canceled his trip to Los Angeles to attend the Summit of the Americas after testing positive for COVID-19.
«Due to the trip tomorrow to the Summit of the Americas in the US, I had a PCR today. The result of it was that I am positive for COVID 19. As a result of this situation, I must cancel all activities for the next few days,” the president wrote on Twitter.
Governments of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua are officially excluded from the Summit of the Americas
This was Lacalle Pou’s second trip to the United States since he took office on March 1, 2020.
The Uruguayan president visited the United States during the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations, in New York, on September 22, a few days after participating in Mexico in the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American States and Caribbean (Celac).
