Twenty flights affected by fog in Ezeiza and 40 in Aeroparque

Weather forecasts indicate that the fog will begin to clear gradually around noon

More of 40 flights were affected this afternoon at airport Jorge Newbery due to the intense fog that fell over the area of the North Coast of Buenos Aires, with at least 22 services that had to be diverted to alternative terminals, airport sources informed Télam.

This Monday morning, about 20 flights from different companies were also affected in Ezeiza, with diversions, cancellations and delays. Between dawn and noon, one flight was cancelled, six were diverted to Montevideo, and 12 were delayed for between two and four hours.

The problems with visibility, due to fog, later moved to the Aeroparque, where, between noon and tonight, 30 flights were diverted: four from Flybondi, six from Jetsmart, one from American Jet, another from Lade, another from Paranair and 17 from Aerolineas Argentinas.

Aerolineas Argentinas reported that, in addition to the 17 turnoutsanother 16 had to be cancelled, while Jetsmart canceled five and Flybondi three.

Airport sources told Télam that “from 11 the problems began and although it did improve a bit at sunset, it was not enough to normalize operations, which continue to be carried out with a separation four times greater than normal, which causes many delays”.

“For that reason and for a better use of their aircraft, some companies preferred the diversion to Ezeiza, where they can operate with minimal visibility conditions,” the sources detailed.
