The city of ushuaia will welcome winter with the traditional “Longest Night Party” which will run for eleven consecutive days -between June 11 and 21- which will include the participation of more than a thousand local and national artists.
The June 21or, considered the shortest day of the year, and therefore the “longest night”, it celebrates the arrival of the winter season and also the consequent lengthening of the hours of sunlight thereafter.
The municipality announced on Monday the official schedule of activities for the party that will cover “ten musical genres and eighty hours of shows,” official sources said.
The Secretary of Culture of Ushuaia, Belen Molina, explained that the party has “a inclusive and diverse character that gives artists access to a hierarchical stage to be seen throughout the country,” he said.
For his part, the secretary of Economy and Finance of the municipality, David Ferreiraexplained that the festival, in addition to having become a “powerful cultural tool of the municipality” served “to boost the local economy”.

He also said that “every year the party adjusts to a budget, in addition to continuing to work in coordination with the private sector.”
“The Municipality does not stop providing any service or benefit for having the party, but rather feeds off it as a public policy,” Ferreyra assured.
The program of shows for the festival includes performances by Gaspar Benegas, Pablo Sbaraglia, Ramiro Lopez Naguil and Fernando Nalé (musicians from The Air Conditioning Fundamentalists), Kapanga, Pimpinela, Ángela Leiva, Los Tekis, el Chaqueño Palavecino, Lit Killah, Mítica Dorada, Orellana Lucca, La Mono, Ke Characters , Official Gordillo and La K’onga.
In addition, there will be a special night with the legendary rock band divided and a closing with the presentation of Mona Jimenez.
The Secretary of Tourism of Ushuaia, Silvina Bellostated that the party also aspires to become an attraction for visitors.
“It is a popular celebration with enormous tourist potential, also a brand that is associated with the identity of the place. We have been working on it with the Ministry of Tourism of the Nation to grant the party the “Country Brand”, indicated the official.
In turn, he mentioned that by joining the group of events that represent Argentina, the celebration will be one of those that “allow customs, culture, tradition and tourism to be shown to the entire world,” he remarked.
