Firefighters will receive their promotions after reaching agreements with the authorities

A series of agreements regarding promotions within the organizational structure of the Benemérito Corps of Firefighters of the Republic of Panama (BCBRP), reached the workers of the Firefighters Union of the Republic of Panama with the authorities.

In this sense, it was agreed to establish a schedule by the BCBRP Training Academy for training courses at the class level and for the officer level, respectively.

In the same way, a comprehensive audit of positions will be established to technically determine, based on the manual of functions, the position they hold, the number of years of services rendered, the promotions that have been left behind within the organizational structure, giving priority to the units who are about to take advantage of their special retirement.

The General Directorate of the BCBRP will issue a General Promotion Order for 142 units of the National Directorate of Extinction, Search and Rescue (Doexbure) and another, for the units of the National Directorate of Security, Prevention and Fire Investigation (Dinasepi) that have with the budget allocation and meet the requirements. The personnel of the Prehospital Emergency and Rescue Medical Care Service (SAMER) who have the salary assignment and once each case is evaluated and meets the requirements will be included.

Among the agreed points, it is assumed that no action of an administrative nature will be carried out that could be interpreted as an act of retaliation.

To follow up on these agreements, the Minister of Government, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, will organize a meeting with the Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the General Directorate of the BCBRP.

Minister Tewaney Mencomo pointed out that the table convened is to give continuity to the dialogue and encourage rapprochement to achieve solutions that are creative and constructive with the current moment in which we live. “We know that if we sit down and build an idea for the future, we can solve the needs of both parties, without either being affected,” she said.

For his part, Colonel Abdiel Solís Pérez, general director of the BCBRP, reiterated that they will continue working with the firefighters with a view to reaching the best solution within the legal field.
