According to the arguments of the union of the institution, the election of the new head of the Ombudsman should be annulled because the principles of transparency, meritocracy and the right to participate in the political life of the country are being violated.
“The lack of legality and transparency in the election of the Ombudsman, only generate greater suspicions about the actions of Congress”, warned the union of the autonomous constitutional body through its account on the social network Twitter.
It should be noted that Congress has currently formed a commission in charge of electing the new Ombudsman. This group is made up of the head of Parliament, María del Carmen Alva, and the spokespersons of the different benches:
Jorge Montoya, from Popular Renewal; Eduardo Salhuana, from the Alliance for Progress; Elvis Vergara, of Popular Action; Waldemar Cerrón Rojas, from Peru Libre; Wilmar Elera García, We are Peru; Hernando Guerra-García, for Fuerza Popular; Carlos Zeballos, for Democratic Peru; and José Luna Gálvez, from Podemos Peru.
