The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit) delivered today (6) a five-kilometer stretch of paving for the duplication of the BR-316, in Piauí. The stretch released to traffic goes from kilometer 18.80 to 23.80. The forecast for the total completion of the duplication, which covers 20.16 km, is in December.
In addition to Piauí, BR 316 cuts through the states of Pará, Maranhão, Pernambuco and Alagoas. In Piauí, the highway crosses the urban region of the capital Teresina, mainly towards the port of Itaqui, in São Luís, serving as a route for the flow of agribusiness production in the Matopiba region, which covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins , Piauí and Bahia.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the duplication will “increase the traffic capacity of the highway, to meet the growing demand for transporting people and goods, in addition to improving traffic and road safety conditions”.
Duplication
According to the ministry, the duplication work on the BR-316 also foresees the construction of two bridges, three footbridges, in addition to current and surface drainage devices. The services also include the construction of carriageways, external shoulder, safety lane on the internal shoulder, in addition to a central construction site, covering the cities of Teresina and Demerval Lobão, in the segment between km 13.38 and km 33.54 , totaling 20.16 km.
