The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Giorgio Jackson, referred to the reforms that the Executive seeks to promote in tax matters, pensions, among others, affirming that the current Constitution will not allow them to advance in them.
in conversation with The Mercurythe Secretary of State affirmed that “with the current Constitution, many of our reforms could not be carried out”.
Something that was confirmed by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric. “What Minister Jackson says is something that is clearly evident and the same minister refers to events or events that happened, for example, during the government of President Bachelet,” he said.
In a conversation with TVN, Jackson affirmed that one of the reforms that cannot be carried out is that of the health system.
“Our health reform cannot be done. Number 9 of article 19 of the current Political Constitution in its last paragraph prevents us from doing it,” he said.
“The Sernac, so that it has teeth and has an administrative sanction, needs a legal modification, which was approved in Congress by both chambers, it had a majority, what happened, it was declared unconstitutional,” he added.
In that sense, he pointed out that “indeed there are things in our program that see an impediment, a certain obstacle in the current Constitution. It does not mean that we are going to sit idly by if the Rejection wins and that we are not going to try to find a way to get as close as possible to what we proposed”.
“If the Rejection wins, we are going to do everything possible to advance everything that we have been committing. But objectively, there are some matters in which we are going to have a constitutional ceiling that is not going to allow us to advance in those things,” he concluded.
