A quiet election day
Although during the electoral day this Sunday both the parties of the alliance and Morena presented various reports that included aggressions, allegedly armed people and vote buying, at the end of the day the Public Ministry did not register any arrests.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office for Electoral Crimes reported that it received 35 reports and 5 investigation folders were opened for non-compliance with the obligations of public officials and for withholding voting credentials. While the State Electoral Institute recorded just over twenty minor incidents in the polls.
In the days prior to the day, the parties of the alliance denounced the presence of more than two thousand people brought by Morena from other entities, mainly Mexico City, and warned of possible violations of electoral legislation. They even denounced the presence of Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Morenoite governor of Michoacán. Although the presence of the president was confirmed, the activities that he would have carried out in the entity were not disclosed.
And although alleged deprivation of liberty of people close to Morena was denounced, and the PAN assured that there was the presence of armed people accompanying Morena members; none of the facts were confirmed.
“During the day there have been some issues about irregularities with the police. There is evidence in live transmissions in the booths where he realizes that the police let them pass everything… well, to one side of course. This is unfortunate, a series of strategies based on hitting, squandering, establishing violence against even journalists or youtubers cannot be established,” said Martín Darío Cázarez, Morena’s representative before the State Electoral Institute minutes before 6:00 p.m. , when the polling stations were closed.
The brunette assured that even one person from his party was deprived of his liberty for a few minutes and another was severely beaten. However, the above was not confirmed by the corresponding instances.
“I no longer know whether to applaud or be nervous that the police are going to be following up on the transfer of packages, I think more nervous than happy, because the police have shown, and the state in Aguascalientes, the Government; They have been intimidating, beating and threatening, not today, since days past, the structures of Morena. It has not been an exemplary day by the state or municipal police, ”he added.
“We have detected an unusual presence of people from different entities who say some members of the press, others say observers (…). In addition to that protective armor, they are accompanied by armed people, and no one tells me that, I saw it in basic box 164 and in adjoining box one to eight, where there were armed people accompanying (alleged) members of the press. . At the end of the session, I will go to file the corresponding complaint,” replied Eduardo Ismael Aguilar Sierra, PAN representative before the State Electoral Institute and lawyer for former presidential candidate Ricardo Anaya Cortés.
At the end of the day, the State Electoral Institute received around twenty incidents in the polls, classified as “minor”.
