The Minister of Culture, Alexander Salaspointed out that President Pedro Castillo has “direct” communication with citizens and that “at any time” he is going to testify before the media, something he has not done for more than 100 days.
“The President of the Republic communicates directly with the citizens and when communicating with them he expresses his position, his opinion. You are witnesses, he is transmitted ”responded to the press before entering the extraordinary Council of Ministers that was scheduled for this Friday, June 3.
“I think that he (Pedro Castillo) does communicate with the population. Also with the media. Not in the way that you probably expect, but I am absolutely sure that at any moment he will testify and he will be with you “he added.
Alejandro Salas recalled that Pedro Castillo initially tried to give interviews to different media but, as he assessed, “he received mistreatment from an international network.
“I think that those ways of being able to mock, mock, after an interview, I think it has to be improved. We are talking about our President of the Republic. Whether some like it or not, he is our president and we have to respect him.”he stated.
Censorship against Aníbal Torres
Alejandro Salas, at another time, urged Congress to make the appropriate decision for the country, given the possibility of a formal motion of censure against the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres.
“Every week we have a censorship and an interpellation. If they consider that this is the way to be able to exercise power from Congress, we simply have to settle for a constitutional framework for a division and independence of powers”commented the minister.
“I hope that Congress always decides what is best for the country. […] Let Congress do its job. Finally, the population, the citizens and democracy will be the ones that finally judge”he concluded.
