The 1st Corporal of Carabineros, Samuel Tiznao Rivasdied this Wednesday night in a traffic accident registered in the commune of La Florida, when the official in his position as a motorist was moving to assist a police procedure.
According to initial information, a truck would have carried out a surprise maneuver, running over the carabinero, who was left with serious injuries and was taken to the Florida Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
The colonel gabriel stuvenprefect of the Prefecture of Santiago Cordillera, lamented the event, pointing out that “we are very sorry as an institution.”
“It was a motorized patrol that was going to a police procedure, respecting traffic regulations and, unfortunately, a truck made a turn that did not correspond and collided with him (…) later, he was transferred to the La Florida Hospital sector where he died as a result of his injuries”, complemented the authority in 24 hours.
In addition, Stuven specified that the driver of the truck, a Venezuelan national, is under arrest for his participation in the event.
The institution through Twitter also lamented the death of the uniformed man. “We regret to report the death of Corporal 1 Samuel Tiznao Rivas (RIP), who suffered a tragic traffic accident when he was attending a police procedure, in the commune of La Florida. As an Institution we send our deepest condolences to his family and close ones”, wrote Carabineros.
