Young Venezuelan kidnapped in Trinidad and Tobago

The young Venezuelan Maryeisy Carolina Barrios Baldallo, 22 years old, was kidnapped from her home, located in Wallerfield, in the town of Arima in Trinidad and Tobago, according to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police.

The incident occurs at 2:00 a.m. this Tuesday on Demerara Road Wallerfield, according to a report by The Guardian newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago.

Police reports indicate that a group of men entered the rented house and tied up 35-year-old Alex Rodríguez and 49-year-old Levisa García, both of Venezuelan nationality and relatives of the young woman.

Then they take Maryeisy by force, put her in a black van and flee.

A report from the Efe news agency details that the assailants stole cell phones and cash from the house.

The neighbors heard the incident and notified the police who arrived when the assailants had left the place.

Officers from the Northern Division Emergency Response Patrol and the Arima Crime Patrol searched the area, confirming that no ransom has been demanded so far.

Hundreds of Venezuelans are returning to Venezuela weekly since the beginning of 2022, according to data from the Trinidad and Tobago Customs Department.
