Creemos deputy María René Álvarez stated that the Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, minimizes the shooting of armed groups with the Police, since in her opinion they are “militias of the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS).”
In this context, he considered that the investigations of the case are slow because those factions are related to the ruling party.
“A thorough investigation of these armed groups must be carried out, there is evidence, media images that show armed groups. Del Castillo is covering up these irregular groups, he minimizes a shooting because they are MAS militias. This Minister only generates anxiety in the population, ”said Álvarez.
This week, an armed group shot police and prosecutors who later apprehended one of the accused for the kidnapping of a delegation made up of police, journalists and civilians in Las Londras (Guarayos).
Del Castillo indicated that they were not irregular groups, but rather people “of an individual nature who have committed crimes.”

The legislator questioned that there was only one detainee almost a month after the kidnapping of journalists, policemen and civilians.
He affirmed that the investigation is slow because the kidnappers are related to the MAS. He argued that there is evidence, including messages on social networks, that demonstrate the alleged closeness of the departmental director of INRA Santa Cruz, Adalberto Rojas, with these groups.
“Rojas had contact with these irregular groups and instead of being dismissed and guarded, they ratified it,” he said.
Legislators from Creemos sent a request for an oral report to the head of the government portfolio on the Las Londras case.
The authority of the Executive must appear before the Government, Defense and Armed Forces Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and explain the existence of these alleged irregular groups that operate in the department of Santa Cruz.
