As of December 11, Mexico will request a visa for Brazilian citizens who intend to enter the country as tourists, the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) reported yesterday.
The government decided to temporarily suspend the agreement established with that South American country by which since 2004 no visa was required.
The measure is due to the increase in irregular flows of travelers of Brazilian origin in national territory and that, unfortunately, criminal groups profit, based on deception, from the interest of Brazilian nationals to migrate irregularly to the United States through Mexico, under the protection of the facility granted
that visas will not be requested, according to a statement.
It adds that the authorities will grant immigration facilities for those who enter the country by air, through the form called Electronic Authorization, filled out in advance of the trip, which can be obtained free of charge on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Relations and the National Institute. of Migration.
On the other hand, in accordance with current regulations, Brazilians who come to the country by land or sea must apply for a physical visa before the consular authorities.
On the other hand, Brazilians traveling to Mexican territory will not be required to present the Electronic Authorization form or visa under the immigration facilitation measures provided for in article 26 of the Guidelines for immigration procedures and procedures amended and published in the Official Journal of the Federation of 2016.
It is applicable to holders of documents that prove permanent residence in Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, any of the countries that make up the Schengen Area, as well as those that are members of the Alliance of the Peaceful.
