From this Thursday, June 2, at 7:00 p.m., in the exhibition hall of Lira Public Artwill be able to visit the sample of the national artist, HUAN. A reflection on the intimacy of anonymous spaces, the invisible daily life and the images that, like murmurs or rumours, make up our social fabric.
“Cahuin” is the name of the sample that belongs to John Mirrorknown in the world of street art as HUAN. From more than a dozen paintings and a medium-sized mural, it will portray our immediate contexts, creating possible narratives of our idiosyncrasies.
Influenced in his adolescence by the landscape painters and caricaturists of the Main Square, HUANforged a self-taught path, which found in urban art and painting in public spaces a language to communicate his ideas and vision of the world.
The exhibition is the reflection of a long path of observation and recording of our ways of seeing and relating to everyday life: “This work is the product of a process of observation of the daily street life of the Santiago working class. They are images and moments that speak a little about who we are and our way of seeing and relating to the environment. Everything that will be exhibited will be a response to what I have seen and noted in recent months, with the aim of capturing, as far as possible, the personality of the ordinary people of this city”explains the artist.
Searching for concrete, recognizable and systematizable elements that do not lead to over-interpretation were central elements at the time of developing each of the works: “The creative process consists of identifying certain concepts that, for me, were a reflection of our reality and how these could be treated visually, always bearing in mind that the subject of study was a living entity in constant movement”says HUAN.
Aside from the centers, in lost spaces of our identity, and that review the intimacy and definition of our times is part of what we can find in “Cahuín”, a free sample, which will be inaugurated this Thursday, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. hours and that will last until July 3, in the exhibition hall of the Estudio Lira Arte Público, located inside the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM), av. Huan (John Mirror), a Recoletan painter, learning on his own, has developed an incipient work within both mural and canvas painting. closely observing issues such as political violence, street culture and the Santiaguina idiosyncrasy. Influenced by the street painters of downtown Santiago, he takes his work as a tool to tell a little about the experiences of his surroundings, the neighborhood and the working class. Approached to painting by his brother who did graffiti, he was struck by the communicative potential of street painting, where the work can be seen by anyone who inhabits the space.
