As of tomorrow, June 1, the new increase in rates of gas and energy that the Government recently established, as part of the agreements that it established with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
As established by the Executive Branch, the increase in rates It will be up to 20.5% in gas and 17% in electricity for those who do not receive the social rate and do not belong to the 10% of the population with the highest income, who will pay more for the ticket.
Although the Government defined the new value of the tariffs, the issue of segmentation is still not clear, since it will be the Secretary of Energy headed by Darío Martínez, who will be in charge of establishing, through a resolution, who will be removed from the subsidies.
It should be remembered that so far, what has been proposed is that citizens with higher incomes pay the full rate, that is, 10% of the populationwho from now on will pay between 150% and 200% more for gas and electricity service.
However, from the Government they confirmed that these will be the last increases of the year, given that in March the first increase for public services had already been set, which was on average 20%.
In this sense, with the increase that will take effect from June, the average user will pay 42% more for gas and energy, while users with a social rate will see an approximate increase of 20% for the whole year.
As for the users who will pay the full rate, although the segmentation is yet to be defined, the Executive Power anticipated that they will be those who receive income greater than the equivalent of 3.5 Total Basic Baskets (CBT), that is, more than $333,400.
How many people will stop receiving the government subsidy
To establish which citizens will no longer receive government support in the tickets gas and energy, a series of criteria were established; however, it is estimated that 1,682,378 users pay the full rate in the AMBA.
Of these, 921,778 correspond to the energy service and 760,600 to the gas service. However, those who consider that they do not meet the criteria to be excluded from the subsidy can file a claim with the competent authorities.
